Omega’s Olympic Legacy

Timing the Games since 1932

Omega has been providing timekeeping and data-handling services to the Olympic Games since 1932. In addition to Beijing 2008, our long-term contract with the IOC extends to Vancouver 2010 and London 2012.

At this year’s Olympic and Paralympic Games in Beijing, we are committed to the Official Timekeeping and data-handling for 28 different sports at 37 venues. Our presence at the Games will be impressive: 450 on-site professionals, 420 tons of equipment including 70 public scoreboards as well as 322 sport-specific scoreboards, 175 km (105 miles) of cables and optical fibre, 65 TV generators and state-of-the-art timekeeping and data-handling technology developed by Omega and adapted to the requirements of each sport.
