The Swatch Art Peace Hotel opens in Shanghai

The Swatch Art Peace Hotel will open its doors next Tuesday, November 1, 2011. Opening Day activities begin with the official ribbon-cutting ceremony in the presence of the Swatch Group Management, the Mayor of Shanghai and local authorities as well as members of the Artist Selection Committee. The visitors will then be given a tour of the studio-workshops on two floors of the restored landmark hotel, where a number of Chinese and international artists are living and working.

Throughout the day, art students, artists and members of the public will participate in a Street Painting festival, working on canvases set up along the Bund outside the Hotel. Representatives of Shanghai media and international press attending the opening ceremony will be invited to join the artists and visitors at a cocktail party on the roof terrace of the Swatch Art Peace Hotel that evening.
