Omega Spectre

From the Soviet espionage of Goldeneye to the sinister underworld of Spectre, the Omega Seamaster has been James Bond's trusted companion for 20 years of adventure. Representing his naval history and distinguished character, it has proven to be a valuable asset, both in the field and in his reputation for style. The models may have changed, but the relationship has never faulted.

As the release of Spectre approaches, Daniel Craig remembers the moment his life changed and how Omega was at the heart of it all.

It began with a rumour. A story that was circulating the world and capturing the attention of James Bond fans everywhere. Could Daniel Craig be the sixth actor to play the iconic part of 007? For the actor himself, the idea seemed far-fetched.

«The year that someone said, ‘you might be in line for playing James Bond’, I thought, ‘it’s a lovely idea, but I’m never going to play James Bond.’ I mean, I just couldn’t see it ever happening.»

However, as the gossip grew, the dream began to take hold. Suddenly, the role was in his sights and that «lovely idea» seemed close to reality.  And that’s when, on a trip to Hungary, his thoughts immediately turned to Omega.

«I went to a second-hand store and I bought myself an Omega. I thought, if I don’t become James Bond, this will be a reminder that I nearly did.»

Whether he was to get the part or not, Daniel Craig had cemented his connection with James Bond, ensuring that he would always have an attachment to the character.

The particular model purchased was a 1968 Omega Seamaster 300, ironically the predecessor of the Seamaster 300 his character wears in Spectre.

This vintage model, driven by the calibre 565, was a diver’s watch worn by the underwater adventurers of the British Royal Navy. Again, a highly appropriate model for an actor destined to become 007.

Now, as the story comes full circle, it’s hard to imagine any other actor more appropriate for the films. Reflecting on that critical moment in his life, Craig says, «That’s all history now. But I still wear that watch to this day.»

And, 10 years after the rumours began, Daniel Craig is again wearing an Omega Seamaster 300, this time on screen, a personal reminder of the role he has famously made his own.

Daniel Craig visits the Omega Factory

The actor sees production of the new Omega Seamaster 300 «Spectre» Limited Edition

Daniel Craig has made a special visit to the heart of the Swiss watchmaking industry for the inauguration of the Omega factory in Villeret, Switzerland. The actor who reprises his role as James Bond in Spectre, the 24th Bond adventure, was given a guided tour, as well as exclusive access to the factory’s assembly line.  During the visit he was also shown production of the new Omega Seamaster 300 «Spectre» Limited Edition.

For Omega, Daniel Craig’s visit to Villeret was a momentous occasion. Together with Nick Hayek, Swatch Group CEO, and Stephen Urquhart, President of Omega, Craig was shown exactly what goes into making Omega watches such as the one he wears in Spectre. As an avid collector himself, he was fascinated by the engineering and expertise on show.

«I think what was so impressive was the fact that these watches are made from the ground up. You start with nothing, and then there’s suddenly a working watch. That’s the beauty of it.

To see the engineering that goes into it and the legacy that goes into it, that’s what fascinated me.»

As the release of 24th Bond film Spectre approaches, Omega is proud to announce they will be partnering with Moneypenny actress Naomie Harris.

President of Omega, Stephen Urquhart, spoke of his delight with the partnership: «The women who play alongside Bond are often just as memorable as the spy himself. Naomie stands out as one of the best. The spirit and edge she brings to Moneypenny is fantastic and it’s an honour to have her as part of Omega’s James Bond story.»

On the new role, Naomie shared her excitement, «I’m a true fan of Omega and I know they have a strong connection to the iconic Bond franchise. I’m pleased to join Omega for the release of Spectre, and I look forward to celebrating the partnership and also to wearing such beautifully crafted timepieces».

Omega presents the Seamaster 300  «Spectre» Limited Edition

Omega Seamaster 300 James Bond edition

Submerged in tradition, the Seamaster has been James Bond's watch since Goldeneye in 1995. With his naval history and classic style, it is perfectly suited to his iconic character,

This special timepiece will, for obvious reasons, be limited to just 7,007 pieces, and with its stainless steel case and black dial, the sleek design has instant appeal.

The bi-directional rotating diving bezel is also black, this time made from polished ceramic. Combined with a LiquidMetal® 12 hour scale, time can be kept with any country in the world. Ideal, some might say, for a person on the move.

Other unique features include the «lollipop» central seconds hands, as well as the 5-stripe black and grey NATO strap - otherwise known as the James Bond NATO Strap. On the bracelet's strap holder, «007» has been engraved.

However, wearers are also given their own serial number, printed on the back. This personal identity is complemented by the engraving of the «Spectre» film name, celebrating the latest on-screen adventure.

Of course, no Bond would be complete without the gadgetry. On the inside, this watch is driven by the highly innovative Omega Master Co-Axial calibre 8400, a revolutionary movement in its own right.

Although the story of this upcoming film remains a secret, it is now clear that James Bond's famous sense of style will again be on show. The Seamaster 300 «Spectre» is an incredibly sophisticated design, yet with a dark edge of attitude to match.

The Omega Seamaster family welcomes a new limited edition model inspired by the world of James Bond

Aqua Terra James Bond

In anticipation of Spectre, Omega has created a limited edition Seamaster Aqua Terra 150M model inspired by the Bond family coat of arms.

The symbol is repeatedly interlocked to create a dynamic pattern on the watch’s blue dial. The coat of arms is also found near the tip of the yellow central seconds hand.

Among the most striking elements of this 41.5 mm stainless steel timepiece is the oscillating weight of the movement visible through the sapphire crystal caseback. This component has been cut and shaped to resemble a gun barrel, a design feature associated with James Bond.

Powered by the completely new Omega Master Co-Axial calibre 8507, this timepiece is resistant to magnetic fields of 15,000 gauss.

The timepiece is presented on a stainless steel bracelet and will be produced in an edition limited to 15,007 pieces. It is delivered with a full four-year warranty.
