The company

The Swatch Group Ltd is an international group active in the manufacture and sale of finished watches, jewelry, watch movements and components. Swatch Group supplies nearly all components required for the watches sold by its 16 watch and jewelry brands as well as by its two retail brands, Tourbillon and Hour Passion.

The Group’s production companies also supply movements and components to third-party watchmakers. The Swatch Group Ltd is also a key player in the manufacture and sale of electronic systems used in watchmaking and other industries. With its watch brands, it is also a leader in the field of sports event timing as official timekeeper and data-handler of most of the Olympic Games of the last decades and major international sports events.

 

Job description

The Legal Advisor will possess strong experience in commercial contract law, including distribution, retail leasing and construction issues, as well as privacy and data protection, based in its offices in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

 

Legal advice & Guidance

  • To draft, review, negotiate a variety of contracts for the Company’s Day to day operations
  • To provide legal advice, training to various brands, divisions of the Company
  • To ensure Company’s activities comply with local laws
  • To follow up and supervise contractual terms, filing deadlines and due dates
  • To maintain contract management
  • To follow and inform about relevant legal developments sufficiently in advance e.g. (new laws, relevant jurisprudence provide legal advice)

Legal Documentation and Advisory

  • To represent the Company in defined legal proceedings
  • To manage and control approved external counsel in pending court proceedings including cost control
  • To assist in the settlement of legal cases through the negotiations and conclusion of settlement agreements
  • To draft Company’s resolution under the guidance of the legal department at Swiss Headquarters
  • To support Legal Department of Swiss Headquarters with regard to special projects

Regulatory Compliance

  • To prepare, review and file all necessary company applications, registrations with local authorities, maintain complete record.
  • To represent the Company’s interest before local authorities.

Risk Management and Mitigation

  • Carry out regular risk assessments for new projects assigned and highlight any risks to the management prior to deployment

Profile

  • High level of prioritizing, meet tight deadlines, high ability to work under pressure
  • Strong drafting, communication (written and verbal) and negotiating skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Self-motivated and a self-starter; quick learner for a multifaceted business

Professional requirements

  • Master’s degree in law
  • 5-10 years of experience in law firm with 3 years in the corporate sector, including (experience in labour courts or as in-house counsel)
  • Familiarity with legal software and databases
  • Strong legal research and analytical skills
  • Commercial litigation experience
  • Commercial contract law, including drafting and reviewing agreements, as well as experience in distribution law, privacy law, tenancy law.

Languages

Fluency in Arabic and English is essential
