Job description

The service technician is responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of Swiss Timing products and systems, working to support both our new-build and existing venue project installations and after-sales servicing activities.

  • Preparation, assembly, and testing of equipment prior to installation
  • Assisting in planning of on-site installation works including site surveys and preparation of RAMS.
  • Maintain relationships with colleagues, site management and other trades through effective and consistent communication
  • Installation of new timing systems and scoreboards, to include cabling and work at height.
  • Commissioning and testing of installed systems
  • Accurate note taking / recording of on-site works (photo record, report sheets, etc.)
  • Attend training courses (H&S, access, etc.) as required by Swiss Timing
  • Comply with all company and on-site Health and Safety requirements, processes and procedures.
  • Planned preventative and reactive maintenance of installed systems, on sites throughout UK and Ireland.
  • Provision of technical support and operational advice to customers/end users either on site or remotely.
  • Provide training to customers/end users in the operation and maintenance of installed systems.
  • Fault-finding and simple workshop repairs of returned equipment.
  • Preparing and submitting service reports.

Regular travel will be required throughout the UK, Ireland and occasionally Iceland with the addition of working overtime/irregular hours, as required. Regular overnight stays for installations and servicing will be required.

Profile

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Experience in a field service or systems installation role.
  • Must have basic knowledge of electronics and good fault finding and maintenance skills.
  • Ability to work under own initiative and as part of a team including internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving and organisational skills
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Good Windows-based IT skills and experience

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • IPAF, PASMACSCS
  • SSSTS
  • An understanding of Windows networking
  • Experience of installing and configuring standard software and applications.
  • Software troubleshooting experience.
