International Transportation Specialist

Job description

The International Transportation Specialist follows the transport activities of SG companies and independent agents worldwide. He/she manages and monitors all logistical tasks related to daily operations and assists SG subsidiaries with their local distribution. Provides the analysis needed to monitor the existing workflows and works closely with the stakeholders to identify areas for continuous improvement of the processes.

Profile

In this role you will:

  • Maintain regular communication with the logistics, transport, and traffic managers of SG companies worldwide.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for support and inquiries related to domestic and international transport, returns, and customs clearance.
  • Coordinate with carrier partners to follow up on inbound and outbound shipments.
  • Apply strong analytical and theoretical skills to create and update regular comparative analyses, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Ensure that shipments comply with the terms and conditions of the insurance policy.
  • Support daily operations by troubleshooting issues affecting the European Distribution Center, brands, and countries.
  • Monitor transport activities from the distribution center and ensure smooth information flow among all stakeholders.
  • Identify changes in shipment planning and configuration, and propose appropriate transport solutions.
  • Handle daily administrative tasks, including compiling forecasts, updating tracking files, taking meeting minutes, and distributing relevant information.

Professional requirements

  • Federal Certificate of Competences (CFC) or Bachelor in the field of supply chain management or equivalent with several years of experience
  • Familiarity with ticketing tools, customer care systems, or order management systems can be beneficial.
  • Competent handling of MS Office tools with strong knowledge in Excel
  • Having experience with SAP (SD/MM) or an equivalent system is advantageous
  • Know-how about special topics (like hazardous / dangerous material, chemical products, temperature-controlled transports etc.) are an added value.
  • Having prior experience in roles such as transit agent or import/export agent with a carrier is desirable.
  • SharePoint, EDI and API interfaces knowledge would be a plus.
  • Customer-focused, proactive, and solution-oriented mindset.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally.
  • A collaborative team player who can also work independently; organized, detail-oriented, and able to meet deadlines.
  • Comfortable working in an international, dynamic, and complex environment.

Languages

Now, in order to blend in, socially and professionally, we certainly recommend the following languages:

  • Fluent in German or French (mother tongue) with a good understanding of the other language (oral and written)
  • A strong command of English, both spoken and written, is essential for effective communication.

Any other languages are welcome - we have 29 so far in the company, if you wish to add the 30th, you pretty much know what to do.
