Job description

As the SAP Basis Administrator, you will provide expert-level administration, optimization, and support of complex SAP environments, ensuring stability, security, and high performance. Reporting to the Head of IT Hub Canada, you will lead technical initiatives, support critical SAP systems, and contribute to the continuous evolution of SAP services while mentoring junior team members.

Base pay of $120,000 - $150,000.

Responsibilities include:

  • SAP Landscape Management & Projects: Lead and execute SAP BASIS projects, including system installations, upgrades, migrations, and enhancements across complex environments.
  • System Performance & Optimization: Deliver advanced operational support, including system monitoring, performance tuning, and stability improvements to ensure optimal system performance.
  • SAP Platform Support: Support and maintain key SAP solutions, including SAP ECC, SAP S/4HANA, SAP BW on HANA, and SAP APO, ensuring high availability and reliability.
  • Database Administration: Maintain and optimize database environments including SAP HANA and DB2, ensuring data integrity, performance, and scalability.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with SAP Competence Center, BICC, ABAP Development teams, and business stakeholders to support initiatives and resolve technical challenges.
  • Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior SAP Basis administrators, fostering knowledge sharing and capability development within the team.
  • Project Coordination & Governance: Coordinate SAP technical activities within projects, ensuring timelines, quality standards, and best practices are met.
  • Documentation & Standards: Develop, maintain, and enhance operational documentation, procedures, and technical standards.
  • Incident & On-Call Support: Participate in standby services, manage critical incidents, and ensure rapid resolution of system issues.

Working Conditions: This role is primarily office-based within a highly technical IT environment. The position requires strong analytical focus, collaboration across global teams, and the ability to respond to critical incidents. Participation in on-call rotations is required.

Employment Status: Full-Time. 40 hours per week. Flexibility is required to support critical system activities, upgrades, and incident management, including occasional after-hours support.

Professional requirements

 

  • Degree in Information Technology or a related field
  • 5–10 years of SAP Basis experience in complex SAP landscapes
  • Strong expertise in SAP HANA administration and optimization
  • Experience with IBM/AIX, Linux, and Windows server environments
  • Advanced database administration experience (SAP HANA, DB2, Oracle, SQL Server)
  • Solid experience in change management and project delivery (certification is an asset)
  • ABAP knowledge or scripting capabilities are considered an advantage
  • Fluency in English
