German watch manufacturer presents ladies collection «Pavonina» in Shanghai

On January 15, Glashütte Original welcomed numerous guests to a glamorous event at the Swatch Art Peace Hotel Shanghai dedicated to the celebration of women. Mr. Yann Gamard, Managing Director of Glashütte Original, and Ms. Linda Wan, Vice President of Glashütte Original China, welcomed more than 100 guests from all over Asia and introduced them to the dazzling «Pavonina» collection. 

The design of the Pavonina was inspired by women who broke with tradition at the outset of the 20th century. There is no better symbol of this development than the decision by more and more women who stopped wearing constricting corsets. In one exhibition room, a number of such corsets are on display. Another installation emphasizes other facets of women such as sensuality and love of life, which is symbolized by a pyramid of dance shoes hanging from the ceiling and appearing to float in the air.

As part of the exhibition, there is a corridor of light and shadow leading to a display of photos of famous Chinese, European and American women of the early 20th century. Their legacy lives on to the present day such as the achievements of the scientist Marie Curie, the writer Virginia Woolf, the astronaut Valentina Tereshkova, the painter Pan Yuliang or the actress Huang Liushuang. Furthermore, the Chinese artist Ms. Ma Yanling displays her paintings of Chinese film actresses of the 1930s and 1940s thus providing a perfect backdrop to the glamorous Pavonina watches.

The exhibition is now open to the public until January 24, 2014.
